We also order take out, and the food is always expertly packed and spill-proof.Tori Spelling and Dean McDermontt's little girl is all grown up! Finally, cleanliness, this restaurant is always operating-room clean, even during especially busy evenings. The drink selection is good, and the cocktail selection is pretty good if formulaic. The service is always excellent, and preceded/followed by conversation with the staff, and recommendations for fresh or especially good selections for the day. The usual selection of Japanese and Chinese dishes is less "routine" because of the effort and quality that this family puts into every dish. The seafood is always of the highest quality grade, and this is reflected in the flavorful sushi and sashimi dishes. quality of the meal is excellent, flavorful, and expertly presented. Every meal receives individual attention. We've made this our go-to restaurant for those evenings when we don't feel like cooking, but still want a home-made level of attention for our meal. Katana Sushi & Ramen is a family owned and operated restaurant. Just maybe get some recommendations first or say this place is better for someone a bit more adventerous/skilled in sushi eating. People seem to love this place and I would like to try it again. We would totally try this place again but I should have gotten the hibachi with shrimp which was what I originally wanted to order but changed my mind at the last minute. The California roll was good that I tried. The other things I tried out of the box were good but a lot was coated in tempura which was decent but greasy and the batter didn't have a lot of flavor (not sure if this is normal). I acknowlege I should have asked questions to clarify just what came with the dinner box but I assumed it would be what I saw pictured in the menu. ![]() A part of me wanted to be adventerous and try it but the pieces are so big that my concern was if I couldn't eat it I would totally ruin my entire dinner (and maybe my husbands LOL). I was very surprised when 6 pieces of raw fish sashimi (I think it is) showed up with my meal. I ordered the Dinner box and chose a California roll because I pretty much eat only cooked sushi, nothing raw. It tasted great but for $28 there were 2 scallops, a few tiny bite size pieces of steak, and a ton of shrimp. He also ordered the Hibachi with steak, shrimp and scallops. He ordered a Zombie drink which was just ok, it seemed a bit heavy on the juice. I will preface this by saying I'm a middle of the road person when it comes to adventurous food. The place is clean, staff is friendly, and it has a great atmosphere. My husband and I decided to be adventurous and try Katana. Silverstein ended their set with “The Afterglow”, which had the entire crowd, including myself, singing loudly. Photo by Sean Derrick/Thyrd Eye Photography. Silverstein performing at Pops Nightclub near Saint Louis, Thursday. He also switched some of the lyrics to say “Sauget” when mentioning another city, which the crowd loved. He really got the crowd going when he said Congrats to the Blues on winning the Stanley Cup and “Fuck the Bruins”. Silverstein played a brand-new song called “Burn It Down” that had just come out a week prior to this show, which I loved and can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. The entire crowd seemed to be singing along and bobbing their head. ![]() When playing the older ones, it brought a lot of high school nostalgia for myself and most people in the crowd. Silverstein played a mixture of older and newer songs. They always sound SO GOOD live (as if you were listening to their songs right off the CD), so I knew they were going to put on an awesome show. I have been a fan of Silverstein since I was in high school, so I was extremely excited to see them again (the first time was at Warped Tour a few years ago). Silent Planet interacted well with the crowd by thanking them multiple times for coming to watch them, starting mosh pits, and jumping into the crowd during the last song. It basically just sounded like he was talking and didn’t resonate well live. The lead vocalist, Garrett Russell had strong screams, but I was not the biggest fan of his clean singing. The bassist, Thomas Freckleton, had crisp clean vocals, and sang loud to make sure the crowd could hear him. Silent Planet performing at Pops Nightclub opening for August Burns Red and Silverstein.
